The General Management Plan of SINP
The NIPAS Act and its implementing rules and regulations require the preparation of a general management plan for each protected area of the country. The GMP is one of the main basis in the decision making process particularly in the development, approval, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of programs, projects, policies and other interventions to conserve the biodiversity of the PA and its buffer zone.
The general management plan of the Samar Island Natural Park covers from June 2006 to May 2016. This plan provides the over-all direction in managing the PA and its buffer zone to attain the very purpose by which they are established, and addresses various issues and concerns affecting the entire SINP. Based on this GMP, the PAMB and the PA office shall prepare the annual work and financial plan for SINP.
The different components of this management plan are the (a) vision, goals and objectives; (b) management programs and strategies; (c) management zoning; (d) management standards and guidelines; and (e) management structure and institutional arrangement.
